Essential, company smartphone which was founded by one of the creators of Android, Andy Rubin is reportedly bankrupt. Company startup which was founded four years ago was forced to cancel a number of projects for its smartphone.
Founded in 2015, Essential has plans to release several mobile devices, smart speakers and custom operating systems. But not knowing what happened, they only released one product, the Essential mobile phone with several other accessories.
The manufacturer from Palo Alto, California, United States (US) has launched smartphone unusual super thin. Nicknamed Gem, unfortunately this phone doesn’t have a significant market yet.
The device features a unique modular system that allows accessories (such as a 360 degree camera) to attach to the phone perfectly. The Essentian phone is one of the first phones to have almost no bezels, operating the older Android OS.
“Your vision is to create a mobile computing paradigm that is more integrated, with the needs of people’s lifestyles,” Essential said in an official statement quoted from BBC, Thursday February 13th.
By closing this company, it means that Essential phones will no longer receive any kind of software security updates. Its last update that Essential gave its users last February 4th.
“Despite our best efforts, we have now taken the gem as far as we can, and unfortunately do not have a clear pathway to deliver it to customers. Given this, we have made the difficult decision to discontinue operations and roll out the Essential phone,” he continued.

Even so, Essential has donated its software on the GitHub site, so that developers can continue to hack or develop the tool. Meanwhile, the Essential e-mail service, Newton Mail, will also be terminated on April 3.
